Evaluation:

For my photo essay i photographed images that made me think of the build up to christmas and christmas day. I shot the photo's from all different angles on my fujifilm finepix s2950HD camera to make them look better; close up shots, mid shots and a few long shots. I wanted to photograph things that remind me of the build up of christmas and how its getting more exciting the more near christmas comes. With my idea i started to think of places that reminded me of christmas and i ended up taking pictures in burton shopping centre of santa's grotto and things around my house that were up ready for christmas e.g. the decorations and advent calendars up ready. I also noticed that Costa had christmas themed cups so i took a photo of that.

In class i decided that i didn't want still images even though it was a photo essay. I didn't want people to loose interest in the video half way through so i made the images zoom in as they were playing. I also wanted to make the video fade out at the end so i did that. As soon as i knew what i was going to do my film about i knew what song i was going to use in the background while the pictures were running through; "its beginning to look a lot like christmas" by Michael Buble. Purely because the images are about how the season's changing and with all the decorations getting put up, it beginning to look a lot like christmas!

At the end i realised that the video finished just as the lyrics went back to the chorus so i added the words 'its beginning to look a lot like christmas' just as the song said it. I then made the video fade out  and then added my name at the end of the video followed by another cross fade. I like the way i edited it and it all went to plan, overall i am very impressed by my video and i learned how to do a selection of things for the next time i do a photo essay.

The reason i did a christmas video was because i don't think many people realise how quick christmas is over and i wanted the audience to be excited for christmas and realise how many days away it is. I edited my video on final cut pro.

The feedback i got from my video were very positive and i got the reactions i wanted. I also think people enjoyed it and it made them realise how quick christmas comes without realising which is what i wanted people to notice.

proposal for film 6

my proposal for my photo essay is that i want all the pictures to be christmassy and the music to be aswell. i want some of the photo's to zoom in on the shot when it goes onto that part of the film. i would like the words of the song to come up on the screen aswell when the song plays.

in todays lesson i edited a few of my photo's and also put them all into a video to make people realise how soon christmas is. i put them all into order and then at the end have the last picture telling you how many days it is untill christmas. i only wanted my pictures to be on for a short amount of time so i shortened the length of time they were showing. i also got a song off youtube to play in the background and converted it so i could use it in final cut pro. i also made the music fade out in the end for a good effect.
