In yesterdays lesson i edited my haiku poem video, i did three shots one 5 seconds one 7 seconds and the last one 5 seconds, my initial idea was to do my film about a haiku poem that was about autumn and film three different shots of autumn scenery but the weather was more wintery than leaves everywhere, i also noticed that there was quite alot of frost on the trees and the ducks were all out of the water. i wrote the first line of my poem as Autumn in the wood because i got a good shot of a woods with all the leaves falling off the trees and on the floor. For the second line of my poem, the one which consists of seven syllables i found quite hard to do because i wanted to do it about squirrels running around in the autumn trying to find nuts and birds making there nests for there young but didnt have enough syllables to write as much as id planned. so i went out to beacon park which is my local park and had a look at the wildlife there. i had no luck finding any squirrels or birds but there were plenty of ducks so my second line had to be changed. The ducks looked like they were playing and chasing each other so i did the sentence as 'ducks are all busy playing' because it fit the syllables. because of all the christmas decorations i wanted to do at least one shot with something christmassy so i did the last line as 'christmas just round the corner' and filmed santa's grotto in town. The whole way through my film it is quite wintery and dosent really remind me of autumn so after putting all the shots together i put the song 'its beginning to look a lot like christmas' into the film, but at the beginning i crossfaded the music and then made it get louder towards the last shot of the santa's grotto.

tuesday the 15th november.
Today we looked at haiku poems we looked at 3 different poems and then did a film with something to do with the poem, for example these are the three poems i chose and what i filmed to go along with them;
1. the butterflies dance
brilliant colours of the rainbow
rippling like water
-for this one i filmed the trees swaying in the wind as if the leaves were the butterflies.
i filmed the flowers as the colours because of all the different colours of the flowers.
and i also filmed a tap running as the water rippling.
-I didn't think that this video was the best one because from my point of view the tap running at the end of the video ruined it because it was the only part of the video that had nothing to do with nature.
2. in the garden
the old man dances
behind the butterflies
-for this video i filmed the grass with all the autumn leaves on the ground as the garden. I then filmed a tree that looked all wrinkly as the old man and the sky behind some frozen berries as "behind the butterflies"
-I think this video was quite creative because i used a tree that looked like it was wrinkly as the old man because if you see wrinkles you would instantly think of an old person. and i also liked the end of the video because i think the frozen berries were really pretty so they made you think of butterflies.
3.
unknown to the birds and butterflies
a flower blooms
the autumn sky
-for this video i filmed some birds flying for the first sentence and then a pretty flower on its own for the second sentence, for the last part i filmed 2 seconds of the sky then 3 seconds of the camera gradually moving down on to a tree so you could see the contrast in colours from the sky and the autumn coloured leaves.
-I liked this video because they weren't all just still shots, and also when i filmed the flower the sun shone onto the flower and it made it look like it was blooming.
A haiku poem consist of 3 lines and they have 5 syllables in the first sentence then 7 then 5 again.

pancake
Shot List
Shot Number | Description | Type of Shot |
1 | Filming the pancake being cooked | Close up |
2 | Flipping the pancake | Long shot |
3 | Putting the pancake onto the plate | Close up |
4 | Putting the buiscits onto the plate | Close up |
![]() edit decision list. I plan to edit my film so it is really fast but slow clips of the flipping of the pancake. Then I plan to slow it down at the end and make the last shot the longest so you get to see the final piece. I also want to add music to it and make the music fade in and out at the beginning and end. I would also like to have two clips of writing at the beginning and end saying pancake, and by Emilie Newbold. |
